CJP’s protest stage dismantled after ‘Chalo Sansad’ march
The stage where activist Sonam Wangchuk observed his hunger strike was dismantled, while officials removed trampolines, carpets, mattresses and other materials.
Amid the Cockroach Janta Party’s call for a protest march to Parliament on July 20, the Delhi Police on Sunday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS, banning the assembly of five or more people.
The police clarified that no permission has been sought or granted for the proposed march, urging people not to participate in any “unauthorised gathering or march.”

“In view of reports of a proposed march to Parliament by CJP on 20.07.2026 (Monday), Delhi Police hereby categorically clarifies that no permission has been sought or granted for any such protest march/procession,” the police said in a public advisory.

The Delhi Police added: “Prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS (erstwhile Section 144 CrPC) is in force in the New Delhi District. Accordingly, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are strictly prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, with prior permission.”
Police said that in view of the Monsoon Session of Parliament commencing on July 20, strict security arrangements have been made to ensure public safety and the security of protectees.
“As the Parliament session is commencing from 20 July, strict security arrangements are in place to ensure public safety, security of protectees, and the protection of vital government installations,” the police said.
The police also warned that any person violating the prohibitory orders shall be liable for prosecution under Section 223 BNS and other applicable provisions of law.
“Delhi Police appeals to all citizens to respect the law, refrain from participating in any unauthorised gathering or march, and cooperate in maintaining public peace, safety and security,” the advisory added.
The CJP has given a call for the protest march to Parliament over alleged paper leaks and student suicides.
The March on 20 July will take place, as Sonam Sir has decided.

The outfit has been holding a protest at Jantar Mantar since June 20, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is holding a hunger strike in support of the CJP protest. On Friday, Wangchuk was forcibly shifted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital as his strike entered its 21st day.
